Rays, Orioles Series Moved To Tropicana Field

For the first time in team history, the Rays will play at Tropicana Field as the road team when they begin a three-game set against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday. Team President Brian Auld discussed the process of moving the series to Tampa Bay and what the in-game experience will be like Wednesday afternoon:

While this will not be the first time a team has played in their home ballpark as the visiting team, there is a lot that goes into moving a series on short notice. Vice President of Stadium Operations Rick Nafe addressed what went into bringing this weekend’s series to Tropicana Field and compared it to planning for postseason baseball:

Tickets for this weekend’s series went on sale Wednesday afternoon online at raysbaseball.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, the Rays Tampa Store, the Tropicana Field Gate 1 Box Office and over the phone at 888-FAN-RAYS and 1–800–745–3000. Brian Auld and Vice President of Sales and Services Brian Richeson discussed how ticketing will work for this weekend’s series:

It is not yet known how the Orioles will handle those in Baltimore who had tickets for this weekend’s series, but Brian Auld said the Rays are trying to make it as friendly as possible for Orioles fans in the area looking to come to the games:
