Price Solid in Final Tuneup, as Rays tie Orioles 4-4
In his final spring training start before opening day, David Price was solid in four innings against the Orioles. The lefty allowed three runs on five hits, walking one and striking out five.
Price feels he wasn’t perfect on Wednesday, but accomplished what he wanted to in Spring Training:
Grant Balfour followed Price and was solid, allowing only an infield hit. Balfour feels he’s right on track for the start of the regular season.
Balfour needed just 15 pitches to get through his inning on Wednesday night. Juan Carlos Oviedo and Brandon Gomes each threw scoreless frames. Evan Longoria drove in a pair of runs, while Matt Joyce had a couple of hits. Joe Maddon liked what he saw from Joyce, but started by discussing David Price’s start:
The Rays are 15-6-4 this spring, and will visit the Orioles in Sarasota on Thursday after breaking camp. Alex Cobb will start in the final night game of the spring. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. with Dave and Andy, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05.
