It’s Moving Day
If you’ve spent some time outside in the Tampa Bay area the past couple of days it sure feels like it’s time for pitchers and catchers to report … gorgeous sunshine, temperatures in the low 80s. You can’t ask for more.
Well, today at Tropicana Field they started loading up the truck to head down to Port Charlotte. Here’s Chris Westmoreland, Equipment Manager from the home clubhouse in front of the gathered media. That’s Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times asking the questions, and note the special guest near the end.
Yes, that’s James Shields. Since the Royals have spring training in Arizona, it’s probably the last we’ll see of James until April 30, when the Rays visit Kansas City.
Meanwhile, James’ hard-working spirit lives on. At Tropicana Field today there were 16 players who are headed to MLB camp that were on the field for workouts, among them David Price, Jake McGee and Alex Cobb.
On Monday we’ll have highlights of this Saturday’s dinner at Tropicana Field, for those of you who can’t get there. Price, McGee and Cobb will be among the Rays in attendance.
And when the signings of Kyle Farnsworth, Kelly Johnson and Luke Scott become official and corresponding moves are made, we’ll give you some further feedback. Until then, enjoy the baseball weather.
